Aaargh, still can't see the 15 letter word.

Think of a word that means "delightful" and add it to a word that means "punishment" and you will have it.

Thanks Demeter. This was one of those Homer Simpson moments when you realise your own stupidity! Haven't used a 25A since I was a child. Which leaves only 1A and the 15-letter word. Only...!

barretter: the 'not quite' word is more familiar to me as a synonym for swear-word or curse (rather than 'a solemn appeal').

barretter - the two parts of the 15 letter word are 5 letters and 10 letters.
