Thanks for that Essira. Having brain fade. Was trying to find something beginning with EIS. Do not know why! Got it now.

Was going along quite nicely until SE corner. Cannot get "extremely vulgar", "old heater", "goddess" and "coarsest sensual". Any ideas anyone? Took me as long to read all the posts as to do half the puzzle.

Barretter, the insertion of the bars is quite straightforward. The only problem is making sure you count them all. I must have miscounted about three times. Very frustrating !

I'm still laughing, I finally saw the source when I was looking at the grid to provide answers to xij. Wordsearch not my strong point - but to celebrate that 'intellectual giant' who believed that existence was too tough to face without drugs and just spewed out previous ideas, without concern for the damage. For crying out loud...

Moffat , if you are referring to 'nose' then look closer at 2d. Hope that helps.

Thanks Meursault, all done now. Took me too long because I did what we have all done in the past - not reading the preamble properly (regarding the not necessarily forming real words bit). I assumed, after re-reading, that it only referred to the on and out bits.

Is anyone else getting triple unches in the final grid? I had what I thought was a valid 44/52 grid and had to create them to get the extra bars in and get to 44/56. I feel extra sympathy for the statistician this week!
