Skyewalker 22 :)

Lots of great, ingenious clues to choose from. I especially liked 14 rosalind, 18 pigale and 27 ginge. Obviously can't vote for Paul at 9 because he must have been using some kind of telepathic power to try to steal my clue!

I too am torn about tatter's 30 but I think, therefore, I am going to go for pigale's 18.

Some real corkers - gotta plump for one so Ros 14 narrowly edges it for me!

By the time I saw this thread, Mattrom's [2] looked a hard one to beat and it still does.

Liked pigale@18, ros @14 and steve@16 but Mattrom@2 is my pick

Impressed with Tatters effort @30 but,

Pigale @ 18 gets the vote today.

I've witnessed quite a few "debates", and I use that term tongue in cheek, on this forum over the years questioning the validity of clues. Do they pass the usual guidelines/rules of cryptic clues?.
i'm not sure Tatters if your clue @ 30 would meet the criteria or not but I was impressed with the creative aspect to it. I feel that if the only anagram available was sin & pride it would have easily been a winner.

PS Hope nobody minds that I did this.

@Busby.. I guess it doesn't really meet the criteria. The snide/rip alternative doesn't do anything for me but I imagine that's because I don't have the right dictionary. Should probably have added a couple of words but my favourite clues tend to be the shorter ones.
Thanks for your kind words though. At least I avoided having to choose the next word to be clued - an apparently easy task that I find very hard to do!
