I'm rather lagging behind, having only just completed the grid. I now have no idea what I'm looking for in the 6 elements. A hint of what to do would be welcome.

escuan - google the song to track down the animals. Two of them are found in circles in the grid (top right and bottom left of the grid), three in straight lines (top right) and one (bottom right corner) in a cross.

I've found animals.

Have 3 symbols in grid (is that right?), have 2 animals formed by lines and circles.

I'm not clear what it means by extending each block though?

You just need to black out the cells around the edges and in the middle of the grid (horizontally and vertically). This produces four "boxes".

Puzzle done (excellent, I thought) but don't understand the instruction to extend each block. What's a block?

The blocks are the three black cells already in the grid.

Thanks, unclued - you're obviously right but I doubt that I'd have seen it - too often looking for a complicated meaning to spot the obvious!
