KT - you want a common 3-letter word for mother used in US (similar to that used in UK) + word meaning love, minus last letter. You end up with an obscure word for lovechild - in Chambers.

I'm afraid it doesn't include 'have'.

Good afternoon, everyone! Have enjoyed reading the discussions so far. I am almost ready to begin the challenge of the PL cryptanalysis, but still cannot get M6. Is the 'misprint' in the answer or the definition?

I'd appreciate a hint for 8D...been my last one for a while and at a standstill.

As for the square...seemed to be making progress with this theory - US=TE, as ET=?S, ie not SU as you would expect in a rectangle, therefore UTSE must form a line either across or down in the grid.

Has anyone else progressed along these lines?

Thanks
