I've completed the grid but I only have 9 across changers. 1,9,11,12,15,20,25,26,27. What have I missed please?

Thank you. I had that one but hadn't ticked it off. What a twit, I've wasted ages looking for, in effect, an eleventh one. No surprise I couldn't find it!

I really enjoyed this one but all over too quickly. I wasted ages trying to make 21 one of the special ones (because of the first word in the clue).

All done but can't parse last part of 17 (sort of but not quite).

I can't parse the second half of four, just went with the definition/anagram.

Sorry, still not getting it. If I've got the correct answer, is it an expression which is more commonly used in the plural? If not, I must be wrong. If yes, I can't see how the last 3 words apply.
