Nice work here! I have the unclued lights and am seeking some verification:

ACROSS:
16: C?ATE? = CRATES?
24 ????EDRA?= SCORE DRAW?
34 ?ARTER= CARTER?

DOWN:
6 C?A?S??N = A hint
13 ???P?R?N = COUPERIN?
25 ?I?A?O?A = a hint

Thanks again for leading me through this interesting maze!

16. Not 'Crates'.
24. Yes, Score Draw
34. Yes, Carter.

13 D. Yes, Couperin.

It's hard to give a hint for 6 and 25 - but they are not hard to track down now that you have the theme.

Good day! One final question for verification...

22 DOWN: Mean-spirited wretches from Sancerre crashed around junction ( 9 ) : ?ECREANTS

I am torn between RECREANTS and MECREANTS, but am wondering if MECREANTS is not more apt because of the reference to Sancerre.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Lecrack: I'm not doing this one, either, but imho it's definitely RECREANTS: anag. Sancerre around T (junction) --- and btw from previous experience I know the Speccie very often uses Chambers definitions word for word, which is the case here, too! You were right to try & solve its mysteries: this puzzle is often one of the most rewarding around!!!

Good thinking, greedy kite! Thanks for your opinion! And sure, the Speccie is really a grand thought-provoking puzzle!
