28a Pay the penalty for is def. Begins ab
29d Defect is the defintion (unusual defintion for the answer I thought). More familiar as a synonym for a break- begins with H

I'm just stuck on two in the NE corner, 7d and 14a.

aquestion: 14a definition a drug. 7d definition a mistake. The common letter is a p. Hope this helps.

I was stuck on exactly the same set of clues, mainly in top right corner but managed to find the message anyway. Just wanted to say what a fantastic crossword this was - thank you, Wan!

I am stuck on the bottom right. Help please for 27d and 42ac. Also I can't parse 38ac though I know the answer. Thanks.

37ac busy can be used as a noun that is synonymous with "throng", and then Home Rule = HR.

27dn "fish by bobbing the bait" = dip.

42ac if you reverse the answer then say what you see then it will sound like a synonym for "naff".
