Thank you all for taking part - perhaps not the juiciest of words to clue, for which I apologise! Special mention to thea for providing an afternoon's worth of parsing practice - I had to stop at Lara (Croft) and Tram, unfortunately.

In the end I was left with a short list of two anagram-based answers, Busby #2 and Paul #17 as my personal favourites. I resorted to 'spinning a coin' and plumped for Busby's entry at post 2.
