Thanks for your help. I now have 8 down, but that means my answer for 18ac is wrong. Can't work out where the error is. Also haven't got the composer but suspect there is another mistake in there too unless somebody very obscure. This corner is proving extremely challenging.
I'm struggling with the answer for the down clue commencing 'Watch Australian' (quite possibly because I am in error with what I think is the homophone for the across entry for the clue which has 'rent' in it - sorry, don't have the grid in front of me - and crosses that light) ?
34d isn't an anagram and gives SHEIK/SHAKE as there is no requirement for pairs of homophones to have different letter counts either in clues (eg POLL/POLE) or answers (eg LESSON/LESSEN), or indeed in the title (WRITE/RIGHT).
