Yes, it was the 'so not' that I couldn't work out.
That missing S - one could almost think it was revenge for the anguish I caused with my bad clue
I must say, I'm extremely impressed that you were able to work out that 'eat' was the right word

I’m thinking of coining a new term, “super subtractions”, for subtractive anagrams which requires the removal of 10 or more letters. “Super subbies” for short :-)

Jono - we like the idea of concealing the definition in a narrative. Gets tortuous at times, but the relative indicators are all quite obvious as are the other ingredients, so it’s just cooking up the recipe! Some clues rely on a GWIT, followed by various manipulations. Of course, each to their own and all equally valid in the great game we play and enjoy. Regards.
