Any views out there as to whether or not the grid entries for the 17 other clues are themselves actual words (recognising that the final grid - after treatment - will only contain such)?

The one I have solved so far is not a real word.

That was a real treat.

There are just so many great little touches - not least of which is an opportunity for me to get my coloured pens out and do some drawing 😃

I still have the final bit to do, moving the 'character to their final resting place', but I'll look again at that tomorrow with fresh eyes.

Big thanks to Android for a truly excellent puzzle.

Decided I couldn't wait until tomorrow 😃

The way all the pieces fit together is truly outstanding. - one of my favourite ever Listeners.

Brilliant indeed. A Listener debut I think, and Android's going to have his or her work cut out to live up to this one!

Thanks, tatters and malone.
After pulling another all-nighter, I'm just now moving the 29-cell shape to final resting place, trying not to let my bleary eyes make me put individual cells in the wrong place. I think I see the word that's in Collins English Dictionary now too.
Thanks, Android, for a great mental workout and a phenomenal fete of construction.

Quite agree. A splendid puzzle. Had echoes for me of Kea’s wonderful Admission, No. 4045,
the 2009 Ascot Gold Cup winner, in its construction. A proper Listener. Hats off to Android and many thanks
