I tentatively have 1ac, 1d ( beginning woth D), and the word below 1ac. Can anyone confirm that the Down clues start at "Casserole made...."?

This is very hard, especially with 12 answers being modified. The clues themselves are not generally easy, so I think some cooperation will be necessary!

Yes, the 1st down clue is the one you said.

This is a tough one...I have a full grid but so far the best I can do for 44 entries is 58 bars:-(

Still finding this tough. Do the final letters of "Tool used by.." and "Poet's in need..." coincide? Also, I can't see the wordplay for "Notes Mbeki....", where I think the answer is B--.

Thanks in anticipation

Yes, to the first question, but the second query does not begin with B.

no dylan - it starts S (it's an old sol-fa, superseded by another)

Stick at it buzzb - just finished the barring and managed to get 44 words and 56 bars at the first attempt - great puzzle!

With almost all the clues solved, and a start at the NW corner I'm stuck with the 12 amendments. Googling the title gives something, but I can't see how it helps.

I'm afraid that I'm little further forward then earlier. I have the intersection at 1, and an intersection at the bottom. I feel I need some more nudges to get me going. Any tips on

the 4th one across

2nd or 5th ones down?

Help gratefully received

Dylan, 4 Indian cake or sandwich taking S to make German fried pancake. 5 Anag. Think Isolde

Cockie - the title doesn't really help, yes a three step phrase is involved but it has nothing to do with heaven (well not in a material way anyway).
