Is the H definitely correct? If not, maybe Nipper is the answer.

Thanks for the idea but pretty sure the H is correct.
7d is Stars have a quiet look ... and expression of disgust (6).
Answer is plough, giving the H at the start of 13 a.

Yes, your H looks correct. Maybe the answer IS just Hopper, a child hopping about, but it's not great!
