I plumped for spot, but wonder whether stop works too. jam can definitely be stop as in printer jam. Stops are settings on an organ.

I also thought it is "stop". Also a setting in cameras. Has anyone submitted yet?

it could be stop or spot. i have seen it answered as both on another forum

Speaking as a lifelong organist, I can confirm that the "stops" are mounted on a "jamb" ... but not without the "b"!

Also - while I'm on - and nothing to do with this clue ... but my only problem is 32d. Having seen it confirmed on the forum that 39a is IDAHOAN (which I'd begun to doubt) I just can't get "?A?N?R?S STAR" for32d.
