the cryptic clue is " Sedative , order bride to ingest "

the cryptic clue is " Stuff a great many into top of chest "

4. Char (4) ????
the cryptic clue is " Long or short stretch of water "

2 Bromide, sedative compound (Bride, with OM/order
of Merit inside).

1. looking over?
3. cloth.

3 Cloth - 'Lot' a great many, inside the CH at the beginning 'into top' of Chest).

if burn is correct then clue 1 is -

I checked the dictionary, run over is correct, it means examine hastily .
