Problems with Cockney !

6d Cockney bloke talked of fundamental perfume ingredient (5-4)

Is it ORRIS ROOT = perfume ingredient
root = fundamental

orris = ? some cockney word meaning bloke ?

Could it be Horace - bloke with the H dropped as Cockneys are wont to do, talked of - ie sounds like Orris?
