1d) Howler to join Dario and dad, say (4,3)

Faux pas

I can see the definition and "dad", say...pa s
Can't see the link concerning "Dario" to "faux/fake" etc.

The clue does suggest a homophone.

That's the best explanation I've seen all day Jazzy.
Google has been no help to me this time, keeps offering name meanings in Greek, rich, wealthy etc.
Urban dictionary offered "well endowed + handsome young man that's a bit of a player." Well, that could mean "a fake". ;-)
Thanks for your help, a pretty lame clue in my most humble opinion.

Spot on Rossim. Which makes Jazzgirls' link work perfectly.

Maybe not such a lame clue after all, though this Aussie would never have made the link.
