The clue is:-

Art of the revolution (6) ????E?

I am wondering if the answer might be TURNER. What do you think or have you any better ideas? Thank you.

I don't know if it is a help or not, but Turner was born on today's date in 1775.

I didn't know that, rusty, but I know that Shakespeare was.

Do you think TURNER fits the clue?

No, I don't, unless it is a poor clue.
A revolution is a turn, not a turner.
Thought about pottery which can be formed on a turning wheel. But it does not fit.
Another letter would be a help!

I would accept artist of the revolution but as it stands the surface isn't right.

BTW Shakespeare died on the date too.

I agree, Rossim. If the clue had "artist" instead of "art", Turner would be fine.

I don't know what crossword this is. It is a quiz made up of random clues from a variety of newspapers. The setter gives only one letter per clue.

This is the only clue that I'm stuck on. Frustrating!
