40 A. Ample Titaness providing the Good Life (13, two words) ???a??n???m??

(I thought this would be an anagram of 'ample titaness' but I got nowhere with that.)

It IS an anagram, and a quite simple synonym for "good life"! Not in all machines, though, that's true................

5 D. The marine creatures are very common ones, 'say' is the usual two-letter abbreviation often used in crosswords. The 'say' answer slots into the creatures, to give something you have if you're resistant to illness on board (ships).
