I've virtually finished this puzzle, which was basically very straightforward, but I am baffled by the wordplay for 27 down, for which I have exxxxxd. Can anyone help?

One side turning to the other - l(eft) changes to r(ight)

Turning elected into erected

1st 3 letters are synonym for knot lace , other 2 mean "in this sense".
Defn "dung" ! which "dresses" the country or the fields
